Past Diets May Have Been Harmful To Your Weight Loss...

With every New Year comes new resolutions, and very often these resolutions involve weight loss and the best ways to diet. Interestingly, a number of questions have recently come to the National Metabolic and Longevity Research Center regarding past diets. People are curious to know if their past dieting habits were harmful.

To tell the truth, there are many harmful weight loss “solutions” out there, and when it comes to losing weight, people seem willing to try just about anything.

Here are a few questions that seem to keep cropping up:

Q: “I’ve been eating nothing but protein, thinking it’s the best way to lose weight. But now I’m afraid I might have done some irreversible damage to my body. Can I fix this?”

A: Don’t worry! You can change things, and it’s not that hard. Discontinue the high protein diet and reintroduce vegetables and fruit. Keep your calorie intake at a reasonable level. You’ll find that many of the adverse effects will go away.

Q: “I’ve tried every diet out there to lose weight….Atkins, Hollywood, you name it. Have I done internal harm?”

A: Fad diets are bad news. Miracle drinks that melt away your extra weight don’t exist. The first thing I’m going to tell you to do is STOP THAT FAD DIET.

There, now that I have your attention, I’ll tell you how to live healthy. It’s simple, really. Eat vegetables, preferably raw, and plenty of them. When you eat meat, eat poultry, tuna, and egg whites. Eating healthy can undo much of the damage these so called miracle diets create.

Q: “I know what I’m doing is harmful to my body, but if I change my diet now, I’m sure I’m going to gain all the weight back. What can I do?”

A: The diet you are on is unhealthy and dangerous. We need to change that, and I can teach you how to boost your metabolism and lose weight the natural way. You can look good and feel good. And that’s what it’s important!

The Basic Rules of Proper Food Combining

1. Eat acids and starches at separate meals. Acids neutralize the alkaline medium required for starch digestion and the result is fermentation and indigestion.

2. Eat protein foods and carbohydrate foods at separate meals. Protein foods require an acid medium for digestion.

3. Eat but one kind of protein food at a meal.

4. Eat proteins and acid foods at separate meals. The acids of acid foods inhibit the secretion of the digestive acids required for protein digestion. Undigested protein putrefies in bacterial decomposition and produces some potent poisons.

5. Eat fats and proteins at separate meals. Some foods, especially nuts, are over 50% fat and require hours for digestion.

6. Eat sugars (fruits) and proteins at separate meals.

7. Eat sugars (fruits) and starchy foods at separate meals. Fruits undergo no digestion in the stomach and are held up if eaten with foods that require digestion in the stomach.

8. Eat melons alone. They combine with almost no other food.

9. Desert the desserts. Eaten on top of meals they lie heavy on the stomach, requiring no digestion there, and ferment. Bacteria turn them into alcohols and vinegars and acetic acids.

STRETCHING EXERCISES

Before beginning and ending any weight loss workout session, you need to warm up and cool down the body with stretching exercises. Here are some exercises that you can use. Some stretching rules-of-thumb are:

• Stretch with gentle and slow movements. Jerky motions are not effective and can cause injury.

• When possible, do each stretch on each side of the body. It needs a complete workout.

• Do not stretch injured muscles unless your healthcare provider approved your doing so beforehand.

• Hold each stretch for approximately 30 seconds.

• Only stretch to the point where you can feel a little tension, not pain.

Improve your exercise routine..

Keep track of your workout and exercise routines. In a journal, make a note of how far you walked, how much time you spent on the treadmill, or how many repetitions of a lift you did. Tracking your routine will help you identify what is working and what is not. From here, you have the ability to make any changes to your routine if they are not helping.

Stay away from saboteurs. There are plenty of people around who will try to discourage you from sticking to your weight loss plan or exercise routine. It is those same people who will always try to get you to make your way to the local drive-thru. The results of your dedication will eventually quiet them.

Reduce the amount of fat found in ground beef by transferring it to a plate lined with paper towels after it has been cooked. The towels will soak up some of the excess fat. If you want to remove even more fat, rinse the meat with hot water in a strainer.

Reducing fat does not mean you have to reduce flavor. A little garlic and pepper can provide great flavor for low-fat foods. In addition, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla can enhance the flavor of foods cooked with less sugar.

Much Ado about Matcha

Matcha fever is just beginning to sweep the world.

Already, Canada is under its sway, and the United States isn’t far behind.

What’s matcha, you ask?

It’s a very powerful, healthy, and unique green tea imported from Japan. It tastes great, it’s low fat, and it’s green! What more could you need?

While you might not be able to find matcha in your local Starbucks or on very many store shelves currently, you can rest assured that it’s coming. Before you know it, it will be in every coffee shop and smoothie bar on the block. But I bet you’re wondering what makes it so unique.

Traditionally, the best matcha comes from Uji Tawara area of Japan. There are two types of matcha – the koicha and usucha. Translated from Japanese, this literally means “thick tea” and “thin tea,” respectively.

This tea, loved in its native lands as much as abroad, is often used in Japanese tea ceremonies.

Matcha differs from other teas in that the leaves, minus the stems and veins, are ground into a fine powder and then mixed with hot water. When you drink the tea, you are consuming the entire leaf. For this reason, matcha is higher in vitamins and antioxidants than any other tea on the market.

Matcha is also low fat and contains only very small amounts of caffeine. For this reason, the tea allows you to relax without having to worry about the harmful effects of caffeine.

Matcha is the perfect healthy and tasty alternative to the usual lattes and espressos that people inflict upon their body. It’s something I definitely recommend you try.

Truth About Cellulite...

Why is cellulite so hard to get rid of? the answer pertains to the gender specific deposits of fat. To put it simply, the areas of greater fat concentration appear to be the last to go. In order to get rid of the look of cellulite you must get rid of the fat that is causing it. Remember in the realm of normal people twenty to twenty-five percent body fat is normal for a woman, while fifteen to twenty percent is normal for a male. Most of America exceeds the upper limits of their respective group creating a forum for a whole lot of cheesy looking fat.

Dieting can be deceiving; we've seen women who appear skinny up top yet are hauling around quite a load down below and scream cellulite when they can't diet it off. Even though their collar bone is sticking out and their arms are skinny, their body fat measurements are still quite high.

The bottom line is that dieting down is tough work indeed and you MUST have follow a proven system to get this fat off - otherwise you'll end up more frustrated than anything else. It's a lot easier to give up and blame a disorder than it is to religiously pass the bulk food section at the market and actually do 30 minutes of aerobics every day. If the diet and activity level of an average American were analyzed it would be very clear why cellulite is so common.

Hollywood’s Fountain of Youth: How They Stay So Young

The first thing we have to do is look at the primary reason that people age prematurely. Once we know that, we can stop it and sometimes even reverse it to a certain extent.

The reason you see so many people who are old, even haggard, before their time is very simple: acidic lifestyle.

The good news is that you can change this. From almost the moment you begin changing your diet and start to live healthy, you will look younger and feel better. You just need to discard that acid and live what we call an “alkaline” life.

With a little help, you can easily live an alkaline life. You’ll shed weight, you’ll look better, and you’ll feel better. And I bet you’ll never want to go back to living “the other way.”

So, let’s get to it...

The most important part of living alkaline being successful in your weight loss attempt is to changing your diet.

The first thing we must do, however, is determine exactly what it is I mean when I say acidic lifestyle. Simply put, it means that you ingest foods and liquids that are acidic, and this is terrible for your body.

The audio program provides an exhaustive list of items that cause your body to age at a seemingly faster rate. These are foods and liquids you want to avoid at all costs, and while there isn’t enough space here to provide the full list, I’ll provide you with a somewhat smaller version so you can get started. Here you go:

• Chocolate, candy, cookies and other, similar foods with high sugar content cause the body to store harmful acids.
• Breads, rolls, and pastries are serious offenders and are notorious for packing on the weight.
• Beer, wine, and liquor.
• Spaghetti sauce, mayonnaise, ketchup, salad dressing, and most other condiments – it’s the little things, such as these, that most people don’t think about while preparing their food. You can ruin a nice, healthy salad by drowning it in dressing.
• Processed meat, like most lunchmeats, are full of ingredients that will just bloat your body with acid.
• Soda, whether you drink lemon-lime, cola, or even root beer, you are harming your body. In addition to causing the acidic buildup, sodas also cause you to gain weight.

Now that you know some of the things you can’t eat, I bet you’re wondering, “WHAT’S LEFT?” Well, now we can learn about living in what we call the alkaline life.

Trust me, you’re going to lose weight, look great, and be happy.

In order to cleanse yourself of the toxins, those “acids,” which have been gathering in your body for so many years, you need to start eating foods that are nutrient rich, not calorie rich.

It’s common sense, really, when choosing foods that will create an alkaline environment in your body. You want protein in the form of lean cuts of fresh meat, chicken breast, fish, and raw vegetables. You might also seriously want to consider going organic. First, you get a higher quality of food. Second, the price difference when eating organic really isn’t that much, especially considering how important it is to your health.

Start eating the right way, and you will do more than just lose weight. You will begin a reversal of the aging process, and you will really notice a change in your physical, as well as your mental, wellness.

In order to supplement your diet, I suggest juicing as much as possible. It’s a great habit to get into. You are able to ingest more nutrient-rich vegetables in a shorter amount of time, and it’s something for which your body will really thank you.

If you have absolutely no idea what juicing is, don’t worry. It’s easy, and we’ll get into it in more depth at another time. In the meantime, you can substitute juicing with a “green drink,” which is a very easy, timesaving alternative.

Something else you are definitely going to want to add to your diet is fresh water and plenty of it. Soda and all those sugary juices just don’t cut it, no matter how “diet” or “healthy” they claim to be - they slow down weight loss with every sip.

So, that’s it. Creating that alkaline environment in your body and living healthy is a simple, straightforward process. Eat turkey, eat tuna, fill your diet with raw vegetables (organic if you can do it), and lots of fresh water.

I know that it’s hard to switch to this kind of lifestyle cold turkey, especially if you’ve been living unhealthy for most of your life. I suggest making the change in gradual steps, changing out your soda for water, and then introducing more greens into your diet. As you begin to feel the wonderful change overtake your body, the rest of the switch to the alkaline lifestyle will be easy and your weight loss will be permanent.

Combining Foods for Weight Loss

There are sound physiological reasons for eating foods in compatible combination's. In other words, some foods, if mixed in the digestive system, will cause distress!

The principles of food combining are dictated by digestive chemistry. Different foods are digested differently.

Starchy foods require an alkaline digestive medium which is supplied initially in the mouth by the enzyme ptyalin. Protein foods require an acid medium for digestion- hydrochloric acid.

As any student of chemistry will assure you, acids and bases (alkalis) neutralize each other. If you eat a starch with a protein, digestion is impaired or completely arrested!

The undigested food mass can cause various kinds of digestive disorders. Undigested food becomes soil for bacteria which ferment and decompose it. Its by products are poisonous, one of which, alcohol, is a narcotic that destroys or inhibits nerve function.

It plays havoc with nerves of the digestive tract, suspending their vital action such that constipation may well be a result! These are the salient rules for proper food combining.

Weight Loss Tips for Women

Hey Ladies:

Here are some Tips to start loosing that extra baggage:

Cardiovascular (otherwise known as cardio or aerobic) exercise can help burn calories, but it does so in minimal amounts. Most people think that the more they run, the more weight they will lose, and that is simply not true. Running hard for an hour only burns about 500 calories, on average. Cardio exercise helps get you in shape, but it isn't the best way to lose weight.

It's time to pump you up! Believe it or not, weight training helps burn more fat and calories than running and cardiovascular exercise can. Lifting weights can increase your metabolism, not to mention hat it uses up more calories as it tries to build muscle. Some studies have shown that the calorie-burning effects of lifting weights can last for up to 48 hours.

It's easier than balancing a checkbook, so consider using a journal to keep track of how many calories you are eating, and leave a section to account for the number of calories you are using. Pretty soon, you'll be able to track where those little guys are coming from, and where they are going (just like your dollars)!

It's almost impossible to eliminate all fat from your diet. In that case, look to make healthier fat-alternatives a part of your life. Olive oil for example, is much healthier than lard or even vegetable oil. Yes, it still contains its fair share of calories, but it also contains significant amounts of flavonoids and those all-important antioxidants.

In cyberland, they only drink Diet Soda. All health issues of Aspartame and all the other crap in diet soda aside... In today's world of free refills and super-sized soft drinks, it is no wonder why we are suffering from an obesity epidemic. A can of regular soda contains about 150 calories. The fact is, you can ask for as many refills of Diet Soda as you want, without the the fear of gaining weight (or adding too many calories) - but beware because both Regular soda as well as Diet soda both increase your chances of developing diseases like Candida.
