Past Diets May Have Been Harmful To Your Weight Loss...

With every New Year comes new resolutions, and very often these resolutions involve weight loss and the best ways to diet. Interestingly, a number of questions have recently come to the National Metabolic and Longevity Research Center regarding past diets. People are curious to know if their past dieting habits were harmful.

To tell the truth, there are many harmful weight loss “solutions” out there, and when it comes to losing weight, people seem willing to try just about anything.

Here are a few questions that seem to keep cropping up:

Q: “I’ve been eating nothing but protein, thinking it’s the best way to lose weight. But now I’m afraid I might have done some irreversible damage to my body. Can I fix this?”

A: Don’t worry! You can change things, and it’s not that hard. Discontinue the high protein diet and reintroduce vegetables and fruit. Keep your calorie intake at a reasonable level. You’ll find that many of the adverse effects will go away.

Q: “I’ve tried every diet out there to lose weight….Atkins, Hollywood, you name it. Have I done internal harm?”

A: Fad diets are bad news. Miracle drinks that melt away your extra weight don’t exist. The first thing I’m going to tell you to do is STOP THAT FAD DIET.

There, now that I have your attention, I’ll tell you how to live healthy. It’s simple, really. Eat vegetables, preferably raw, and plenty of them. When you eat meat, eat poultry, tuna, and egg whites. Eating healthy can undo much of the damage these so called miracle diets create.

Q: “I know what I’m doing is harmful to my body, but if I change my diet now, I’m sure I’m going to gain all the weight back. What can I do?”

A: The diet you are on is unhealthy and dangerous. We need to change that, and I can teach you how to boost your metabolism and lose weight the natural way. You can look good and feel good. And that’s what it’s important!

The Basic Rules of Proper Food Combining

1. Eat acids and starches at separate meals. Acids neutralize the alkaline medium required for starch digestion and the result is fermentation and indigestion.

2. Eat protein foods and carbohydrate foods at separate meals. Protein foods require an acid medium for digestion.

3. Eat but one kind of protein food at a meal.

4. Eat proteins and acid foods at separate meals. The acids of acid foods inhibit the secretion of the digestive acids required for protein digestion. Undigested protein putrefies in bacterial decomposition and produces some potent poisons.

5. Eat fats and proteins at separate meals. Some foods, especially nuts, are over 50% fat and require hours for digestion.

6. Eat sugars (fruits) and proteins at separate meals.

7. Eat sugars (fruits) and starchy foods at separate meals. Fruits undergo no digestion in the stomach and are held up if eaten with foods that require digestion in the stomach.

8. Eat melons alone. They combine with almost no other food.

9. Desert the desserts. Eaten on top of meals they lie heavy on the stomach, requiring no digestion there, and ferment. Bacteria turn them into alcohols and vinegars and acetic acids.

STRETCHING EXERCISES

Before beginning and ending any weight loss workout session, you need to warm up and cool down the body with stretching exercises. Here are some exercises that you can use. Some stretching rules-of-thumb are:

• Stretch with gentle and slow movements. Jerky motions are not effective and can cause injury.

• When possible, do each stretch on each side of the body. It needs a complete workout.

• Do not stretch injured muscles unless your healthcare provider approved your doing so beforehand.

• Hold each stretch for approximately 30 seconds.

• Only stretch to the point where you can feel a little tension, not pain.

Improve your exercise routine..

Keep track of your workout and exercise routines. In a journal, make a note of how far you walked, how much time you spent on the treadmill, or how many repetitions of a lift you did. Tracking your routine will help you identify what is working and what is not. From here, you have the ability to make any changes to your routine if they are not helping.

Stay away from saboteurs. There are plenty of people around who will try to discourage you from sticking to your weight loss plan or exercise routine. It is those same people who will always try to get you to make your way to the local drive-thru. The results of your dedication will eventually quiet them.

Reduce the amount of fat found in ground beef by transferring it to a plate lined with paper towels after it has been cooked. The towels will soak up some of the excess fat. If you want to remove even more fat, rinse the meat with hot water in a strainer.

Reducing fat does not mean you have to reduce flavor. A little garlic and pepper can provide great flavor for low-fat foods. In addition, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla can enhance the flavor of foods cooked with less sugar.

Much Ado about Matcha

Matcha fever is just beginning to sweep the world.

Already, Canada is under its sway, and the United States isn’t far behind.

What’s matcha, you ask?

It’s a very powerful, healthy, and unique green tea imported from Japan. It tastes great, it’s low fat, and it’s green! What more could you need?

While you might not be able to find matcha in your local Starbucks or on very many store shelves currently, you can rest assured that it’s coming. Before you know it, it will be in every coffee shop and smoothie bar on the block. But I bet you’re wondering what makes it so unique.

Traditionally, the best matcha comes from Uji Tawara area of Japan. There are two types of matcha – the koicha and usucha. Translated from Japanese, this literally means “thick tea” and “thin tea,” respectively.

This tea, loved in its native lands as much as abroad, is often used in Japanese tea ceremonies.

Matcha differs from other teas in that the leaves, minus the stems and veins, are ground into a fine powder and then mixed with hot water. When you drink the tea, you are consuming the entire leaf. For this reason, matcha is higher in vitamins and antioxidants than any other tea on the market.

Matcha is also low fat and contains only very small amounts of caffeine. For this reason, the tea allows you to relax without having to worry about the harmful effects of caffeine.

Matcha is the perfect healthy and tasty alternative to the usual lattes and espressos that people inflict upon their body. It’s something I definitely recommend you try.

Truth About Cellulite...

Why is cellulite so hard to get rid of? the answer pertains to the gender specific deposits of fat. To put it simply, the areas of greater fat concentration appear to be the last to go. In order to get rid of the look of cellulite you must get rid of the fat that is causing it. Remember in the realm of normal people twenty to twenty-five percent body fat is normal for a woman, while fifteen to twenty percent is normal for a male. Most of America exceeds the upper limits of their respective group creating a forum for a whole lot of cheesy looking fat.

Dieting can be deceiving; we've seen women who appear skinny up top yet are hauling around quite a load down below and scream cellulite when they can't diet it off. Even though their collar bone is sticking out and their arms are skinny, their body fat measurements are still quite high.

The bottom line is that dieting down is tough work indeed and you MUST have follow a proven system to get this fat off - otherwise you'll end up more frustrated than anything else. It's a lot easier to give up and blame a disorder than it is to religiously pass the bulk food section at the market and actually do 30 minutes of aerobics every day. If the diet and activity level of an average American were analyzed it would be very clear why cellulite is so common.
